About Us
Druidy Druids is a group of 4 musicians with a wide range of music.
- History: formed in 2016
Druidy Druids has been developing a repertoire of songs connected with James Joyce's publications, Ulysses in particular, and is a regular contributor both on the street and in venues in the Glasthule - Sandycove - Dalkey - Dun Laoghaire area. In particular Druidy Druids has taken part in Bloomsday celebrations at the Joyce Tower in Sandycove since 2016. During the Covid lockdown we recorded some videos for Bloomsday at No.7 Tower in Killiney by kind permission of its owner Niall O'Donoghue - We have played in cafes, pubs, clubs, at village festivals, busking festivals, parties and impromptu sessions, both indoor and outdoor.
- Location
Although based in the Dublin area, we are regular visitors to the East and West Clare and have performed in Mountshannon, Scarriff, Ennis, Kilkee and Bodyke. - The band has a regular core of the following four members and are joined on occasion by others:
Wendy Goodbody : Vocals, Bodhran
Thomas Dunne : Mandola, Guitar
Dave McClelland : Banjo, Mandolin, Tin Whistle
Frances McClelland : Concertina, Tin Whistle - Style
All our pieces are suitable for acoustic performance
Repertoire is quite varied and includes traditional Irish music, as well as pieces from Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Joni Mitchell, Mozart, Balfe, Percy French and more
